Will you have a doubt - How is this possible in rough tires?. In practical, this betterment makes a revolutionary technology in the tubeless tires segment to resist minor punctures. Generally, tires are responsible for the comforts and smooth movement of our vehicle. We may get a flat tire sometimes, which makes us cramped. This predicament can be rectified using self-sealing tires.
Construction-wise, similar to a tubeless tire, the only thing added is viscous natural rubber sealant made of polymer, which is coated inside the tread layer. Yes, the fluid is just a layer, and it does not make any difference from conventional tires (i.e.) they do not require a characterized rim or special equipment to apply them. We can use this sealant in our conventional tires too.
Whenever any objects like nails or screws get penetrated inside the tire, immediately the sealant tapes a hole surfaced with the stuck object. While removing the stuck material, the sealant fills the complete void and seals instantly. There is no need for changing tires on roadsides. It can seal the puncture up to 5mm in diameter. In this tire, a pressure monitoring system is not required because air will not leak from the tire. Also, the sealant can be able to refill.
Here the only problem is that fluid is not layered on sidewalls, so puncture acquired in walls can't be rectified. The sealant viscosity goes down when the tire gets warm, this may disturb the performance. We will get the same ride experience even after a puncture is attained in the tread layer. Overall these tires can make an uninterrupted journey.
