The camera helps to find a type of object, whether it is moving or standstill. Radar measures the distance between the object and vehicle and calibrates the speed of the moving object. The control unit fetches needful data from the concerned systems and reacts via the braking modules.

While driving the vehicle, in case of any sudden appearance of an object ahead, the cameras and radars have sensed the velocity and distance of the object. They send the data continuously to the control unit. The control unit read all the data and respond accordingly by alert the driver through a warning signal using an LED light placed in the instrument cluster and hold up for the driver's backtalk. This is the first case if the driver responds to that signal, then the emergency brake remains inactive because the driver can handle those with footings. In the second case, if the driver fails to respond, then the control unit activates the emergency braking module. Meanwhile, the control unit calibrates almost every data from the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) unit and the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) unit and further. Then the vehicle is grasped massively by brakes.

Does this emergency brake sound worthy?

Volvo claims this arrangement is an active safety feature that protects by securing the vehicle and the surrounding environment and achieves pedestrians' safety. This system is almost a better safety feature that works to hold off accidental errors. Practically this advancement sounds worthier in some unexpected circumstances. A collision warning system with emergency braking makes excellent guidance for drivers and absolute precautions for heavily loaded trucks and other vehicles while braking.
